Also used for compost treatment to accelerate decomposition.Ammonium hydrogen carbonate is used as a reagent in chemical industries. It is an active component used in the manufacturing of fire-extinguishing compounds, pharmaceuticals, dyes, pigments and fertilizers. It finds application in the plastic, ceramics, leather and rubber industries. It is also used in cooling baths, scale and gypsum removing agents, leavening agent for baked goods and a defatting agent for textiles. Further, it acts as a buffer used in the purification of chemicals. In addition to this, it is involved in the gel digestion of proteins by trypsin and mass spectrometric analysis of proteins.
