Description
Isolate and cultivate fastidious microorganisms with clearly visible haemolytic reactions (staphylococci and streptococci), and isolate and detect Salmonella and Shigella spp. using Thermo Scientific™ Columbia CNA Aesculin Selective Agar / MacConkey Agar No. 3 Modified, a single bi-plate which includes two separate media formulations.
Read more results from a single patient sample and produce more diagnostic details of pathogenic organisms while reducing storage capacity issues in the incubator with a bi-plate that includes two widely used microbiological media.
Identify both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms from one patient sample, including Gram-positive cocci, Enterobacteriaceae, and Acinetobacter species.
On one side of the plate, Columbia CNA Agar with Asculin isolates Gram-positive organisms from clinical samples with this selective microbiological medium traditionally used to identify staphylococci and streptococci because it provides clear haemolysis and typical growth for S. pneumoniae (dent morphology).
On the other side of the plate, MacConkey Agar No. 3 is a selective medium for differentiating between coliforms and lactose and non-lactose fermenters while gram-positive cocci are completely inhibited.
