Description

Description

Schneider's Drosophila Medium was originally designed for the growth of S2 cells from the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaser. Schneider's Drosophila Medium can also be used to culture other dipteran cell lines. This medium can be used for transient or stable transfection and large scale protein production in S2 cells.

Formulation

  • Contains unique components required for S2 cell culture, including malic acid, fumaric acid, alpha-ketoglutaric acid, succinic acid, and the sugar trehelos
  • Commonly supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) before use
  • Requires ambient CO2 in order to maintain physiological pH
