Description
- Recognizes human APOA1
- APOA1 (apolipoprotein A1) is a plasma protein and protein component of HDL
- Associated with reversed cholesterol transport, lipid/cholesterol binding, LCAT activation and specific receptor binding
- Synthesizes in liver and small intestine
- Defects of APOA1 cause low HDL level and systematic non-neuropathic amyloidosis
- Serum concentration of APOA1 inversely related to risk of developing atherosclerosis
- Alterations of APOA1 correlate to cancer and Alzheimer's disease
Process:
- Antibody specific for APOA1 pre-coated onto microwells
- APOA1 protein in samples captured by coated antibody after incubation
- After extensive washing, another antibody specific for APOA1 is added to detect captured APOA1 protein
- For signal development, Sterptravidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent
- Solution containing sulfuric acid used to stop color development and color intensity
- Proportional to quantity of bound protein, measurable at 450 nm with correction wavelength set at 630 nm
