Description
- Recognizes human IFNA1
- IFNA is a member of Type I IFN 1 family best known for antiviral activity
- Key cytokine regulating activity of B cells, T-helper cells, cDCs and natural killer cells
- Interferon-alpha induces B cell maturation into plasma cells and immunoglobulin production
- Interferon-alpha plays role in pathogenesis of systemic lupus erytheatosus
- Interferon-alpha was first cytokine to show clinical benefit in treatment of certain types of cancers (melanoma, chronic myelogenous leukemia, renal cancer)
Process:
- Antibody specific for IFNA1 pre-coated onto microwells
- IFNA1 protein in samples captured by the coated antibody after incubation
- After extensive washing, another antibody specific for IFNA1 is added to detect captured IFNA1 protein
- For signal development, horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-cojugated antibody is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidie (TMB) reagent
- Solution containing sulfuric acid used to stop color development and color intensity
- Proportional to quantity of bound protein, measurable at 450 nm with correction wavelength set at 630 nm
